ABOUT ME
I currently work as and Education Practice Lead in an ALC unit responsible for managing COVID patients. Having recently begun this position I am working towards learning be be a clinical teacher and leader in this challenging healthcare environment. The journey from expert clinical nurse to novice educator is exciting and challenging.
My previous role as a resource nurse in a busy emergency department where I worked as an RN for 15 years. The emergency room allows me to learn new skills and meet new people everyday. I strive to be a leader in my workplace; my most rewarding days aren't always because of a life saved or a patient compassionately comforted but when I have to opportunity to share my knowledge with my team and assist them in their ongoing education.

As a registered nurse in Ontario my practice is governed by the College of Nurses of Ontario. I strive to exemplify the practice expectations outlined by the College and am an advocate in my workplace for encouraging team members to participate in yearly reflective practice, learning opportunities and peer reviews in order to demonstrate continued competence in nursing practice.

My interest in continued education and encouraging best practice in my peers is the reason that I chose to pursue my Masters in Health Studies. I am currently working towards this degree with a focus on teaching so that I can be a more effective educator in the healthcare setting and learn how to interact with the multidisciplinary team in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients.
